Mobile App Mania : Pushbullet

By: , On Wednesday, April 1st, 2015

Pushbullet is one of the most useful apps I’ve ever used.  It’s available for Android and iOS, the desktop version is available for Windows, OS X, and as plugin for all major web browsers.

What It Does

To simplify things the primary functions of the app are twofold.

1. Send Data (files, links, text) Between Your Desktop and Mobile Devices

Pushbullet can send a file, a link, or a note, from one device to another, or even to a friend who has Pushbullet installed.  I’ve often used Pushbullet to send download links to apps from the desktop, to my mobile devices. I’ve also used it to send photos, and documents, from my desktop computer to my phone, and more commonly to send links of articles and videos I want to checkout later from which ever device I’m using to my computer at home.

2. Receive and Reply to Mobile Notifications from Your Desktop

This includes the ability to dismiss notifications, reply to instant messages from apps like WhatsApp, BBM, Facebook Messenger, Hangouts, and whats probably one of my Favorite features, the ability to read, reply to, and send SMS messages from your desktop.

Bonus Features

You can also combine Pushbullet with other apps like Tasker to automate activities on your phone, such as setting an alarm on your phone from you desktop, you can use Pushbullet with ITTT to get custom updates from around the web sent directly to your phone or other device, you can also subscribe to Pushbullet’s own Channels which are feeds you can subscribe to from various publishers that will send updates to your Pushbullet.

If you haven’t tried Pushbullet I highly recommend installing it on your desktop and mobile devices.

If you’re already using Pushbullet what are your favorite uses for the app?
